Creativity StARTs with Solar!

Creativity knows no boundaries! Whether you are a professional or an emerging artist, represent your work by joining the Solar Art Contest!

Contest Guidelines:

1. The contest is open to anyone: amateur artists and professionals alike.

2. Entries should follow these specifications:

• JPEG or PNG still image — no animations are allowed in this contest
• Minimum resolution of 3840 x 2160 pixels — so others can use your art as desktop background
• Maximum file size of 7,5MB — to stay within Discord upload limits

3. Participants must submit entries into the appropriate contest category channel. (more information at the start of the contest). Only one entry is permitted per participant.

The categories are:

• 3D graphics: any original work of art relating to Solar or SXP created using a 3d computer graphics program to render a 3d model to a still image.
• Digital Illustrations: any original work of art relating to Solar or SXP created using a 2D computer graphics program or pixel art program to create a vector or raster still image
• Hand-drawn illustrations: any original work of art relating to Solar or SXP created by hand, either using physical materials or using drawing software to capture hand gestures.

Rules for contest:

By participating in the Solar Art Contest, you agree to be bound by the terms and conditions below:

1) Maximum of one entry per person

2) The work of art must be Solar related (must contain Solar or SXP logo).

3) The work of art must be an original work.

4) No Solar Mods, Team Members, Contest Organizers or Delegates may enter.

5) The image must not, in the sole and complete discretion of the contest committee, contain obscene, provocative, defamatory, sexually explicit, or otherwise objectionable or inappropriate content.

6) By entering the Contest, the entrant represents, acknowledges and warrants that the submitted graphic images are an original work created solely by the entrant, that the image does not infringe on the copyrights, trademarks, moral rights, rights of privacy/publicity or intellectual property rights of any person or entity, and that no other party has any right, title, claim or interest in the image.

7) The image entries are provided to the Solar team and community as part of the contest using the Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International license (https://creativecommons.org/licenses/by/4.0/)

8) The winners will be picked by the contest committee and all decisions are final.

9) The contest committee’s decision is final and binding in relation to all matters relating to the competition and may not be subject to any discussions or correspondence.

What the judges will be looking for:

• Usage of premade 3D models will be heavier judged: Simply downloading a 3D model and slapping a solar logo on it, won’t get much judging points.
• Usage of premade art will be disqualified.
• Usage of graphical elements is allowed, like a picture of a sun in the background. But original created content will get you more judging points.
• Usage of our Solar mascot Leo will get extra judging points.
• Originality
• Overall look and quality
• Concept behind it

Prizes:

The Grand Prize of 550 SXP will be awarded to an entry in one of the three categories mentioned above. The other two categories will have their own 1st place prize of 150 SXP. Each category will have a runner up prize of 50 SXP for a total of 1000 SXP

The Solar Art contest will be held on Solar Discord starting on May 30 at 1800 UTC and ending June 6 1800 UTC

Winners will be announced on June 7 1800 UTC.
