If you do not have the Solar Desktop Wallet, you can download it here. Instructions on how to generate an SXP address using the Solar Desktop Wallet can be found below.
Download the Solar Desktop Wallet
To obtain a Solar mainnet address, you must first download the official Solar Desktop Wallet. Please follow these steps carefully:
- Go to https://solar.org/wallets to download the official Solar Desktop wallet. Note that you should never download Solar desktop wallets from any other website.
- The Solar desktop wallet is compatible with Windows, MacOS (x64), MacOS (Silicon), and Ubuntu.
- Once you have successfully downloaded the official wallet, create a profile. Choose your profile name, passphrase language, time format, price format, and favourite avatar or use the initials of your profile name.
- Next, select the Solar mainnet under “Network” to create a wallet.
Create a Wallet
1. Choose an address from 3 different options
2. Click on the address you prefer. An example is shown below
4. Once you choose a wallet you will be presented with 12 words all lowercase. This is your passphrase.
It is crucial that you take note of these 12 words and keep them safe. They will only be revealed to you once and nobody else has access to them. Please note that these words cannot be reset.
If you disclose these words to anyone else, they will have control over your assets. Therefore, it is vital to keep them secure and not to share them with anyone under any circumstances.
5. You will be asked to verify these 12 words. Enter the correct words in the order of 3, 6 and 9. After entering the correct keywords, click Next
6. Set a Password. This next step is optional. If you use this feature, you do not need to enter the 12 word passphrase each time you perform SXP transactions. The password alone will be sufficient.
7. However, note you must use a strong password and keep it safe. Click Next to move on.
Congratulations! You have generated an SXP wallet. Don’t forget to post your Solar wallet address into your Twitter comment.
